Lucrarea de faţă deschide calea unui demers mai amplu de cunoaştere a istoricului, metodologiei (strategiilor educative) şi conţinutului catehezei creştine, un domeniu mai puţin explorat în spaţiul de reflecţie teologică răsăriteană (cu precădere cel românesc!). Primul volum – dincolo de experienţele catehetice precedente, tipic didactice – îşi propune o prezentare, într-o altă manieră, a documentelor primare baptismale şi mistagogice accesibile, referitoare la Sacramentele iniţierii: Botez, Mirungere, Euharistie. Nu am insistat atât pe aspectele teoretice standardizate, cât pe o prezentare live – pe „viu” – studenţilor teologi (şi nu numai!), într-un volum unic, a celor mai semnificative opere ale antichităţii creştine pe o asemenea tematică extrem de interesantă, vastă şi actuală.
