About us

Galaxia Gutenberg Publishing House was founded in 2001 in response to the need for quality books. In philosophical or theological works, in commentaries or debates of ideas, in essays or journals, in encyclopaedias or treatises on history, in sermons or academic works, the great authors of Occidental and native spirituality have been rediscovered or presented for the first time to the Romanian reader.

Our aim is to promote values, whether in the religious or secular sphere, both through translations (of Giovanni Reale, Scott Hahn, Peter Kreeft, Adrienne von Speyr, Cardinal Tomas Spidlik, Karl Rahner, Etienne Gilson, Hans Urs von Balthasar or Joseph Ratzinger-Pope Benedict XVI, Archbishop Fulton Sheen) and from local authors (Romanian classical poets, the novels of Radu Țuculescu, the memoirs of soprano Virginia Zeani, the prison memoirs of Fr. Matei Boilă and Fr Tertulian Langa or the Pilgrims of Fr Nicolae Pura).

Our publishing house has numerous titles structured on thematic collections such as Exegetica, Hans Urs von Balthasar, Christian Family, Aletheia, Apologetica, Career with Soul, Anima, Adrienne von Speyr, Art and Prayer, 30 Minutes of Reflection, Pio Romeno Notebooks, Canonica, Itinera, Lumen Vitae, Communio, Love and Man, Historia, Fides, Monographs, Metamorphosis, Roman. How to attract manuscript proposals for publication

Galaxia Gutenberg's Editorial Department, made up of specialists in each field, establishes the editorial policies of the publishing house and coordinates the scientific aspects of its work.

The attraction of scientific manuscripts is facilitated by various partnerships and previous collaborations with prestigious educational and cultural institutions in Romania, such as: Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, North University of Baia Mare, Romanian Academy (Institute of History "George Barițiu", Centre of Transylvanian Studies), Centre of Byzantine Studies "Saints Peter and Andrew" Bucharest, University of Bucharest, Baia-Mare Museum of History, faculties of theology in Romania and abroad.

Publishing proposal

Galaxia Gutenberg Publishing House is honoured by any desire for collaboration and welcomes potential authors. Here are a few clarifications for a good collaboration.

The first step in initiating a collaboration with us is for the author to submit a written publishing proposal in duplicate to the publishing house. In order to facilitate the approval of the proposal by the Editorial Board, it is advisable that the proposal has the following structure:

Addressability (10-20 lines). The groups of potential readers (pupils, students, engineers, economists, etc.) should be indicated, briefly describing how the book could be of interest to the different categories of users.

Content (indicative, one page). Chapter headings and brief descriptions of the contents will be given. It is desirable that the description of the subject matter of the chapters, the way in which they are dealt with, and the means used (diagrams, photographs, experimental results, etc.) should make it clear what is special about the work and why it should be published. The number of pages of the work should be estimated in the usual book format (17 cm x 24 cm, 14,7 cm x 20,5 cm).

The outline (10-20 lines). Cite 2-5 books on a similar theme (authors, title, publisher, year of publication), together with a few words of characterisation showing the contribution of the new work proposed for publication.

Authors (10-30 lines). Highlight the concerns and experience of the authors as they appear in previous publications (articles, research reports, books, etc.).

PEER REVIEW

The promotion of scientific books together with books in the social sciences and humanities, including non-fiction works, is the main objective of our editorial work.

We address a wide audience of students, master's students, professors, researchers, academics, all those who are passionate about reading.

The partnerships created, the good collaboration with authors, the large number of orders received on the publisher's online shop and especially the feedback received from our readers, give us the guarantee of the value of the books published and at the same time oblige us to continuously improve the publications and increase the visibility of the publishing house.

The scholarly work of authors and leading reviewers, as well as editorial diversity, ensure the quality of the books published by Galaxia Gutenberg.

One of the main strategies of the publishing house is the peer review process, which is based on the objectivity of the leading reviewers, personalities of scientific and cultural life in the fields of philosophy, psychology, philology, theology and history with whom we collaborate.

The manuscript is taken over from the author by the head of the editorial department in electronic format (preferably word), who will send it to the editor in the specific field. The editor checks the minimum prerequisites for sending the manuscript to two specialist referees, namely:

- there must be two specialist referees;
- the subject matter must be topical, contain novel, original elements, corresponding to the standards and themes of the field;
- the scientific content of the material must be substantial;
- the scientific argumentation of the ideas must be logical;
- the bibliographical sources must be relevant and correctly used. The citation of literature must also be correct;
- the clarity, conciseness and accuracy of the text;
- the manuscript must contribute to the development of theory in the field;
- the conclusions of the manuscript must be consistent with its objective.

They are selected from a list of reviewers with whom the publisher collaborates and who have agreed to participate in the peer review process. The two referees appointed will evaluate the paper individually, according to the five established criteria:
- originality (to have an essence, an idea of its own, which is the basis of the paper);
- scientific value (to show the relevance of the paper on the research activity in the academic environment and the impact it has on the field);
- there are no inconsistencies;
- quality of the scientific paper (scientific basis of the content of the paper, the way the models of analysis are carried out, the degree of originality of the topic);

- the topicality of the author's theme (each author must come up with something new, innovative for the field in which he/she works).
